This project is an architectural and urban design proposal
for a cultural center conceived as part of a wider urban
development plan. The proposal aims to address the strong
dichotomy between the luxurious strip along the Nile and
the residents of inner Bulaq, one of Cairo’s historic
riverfront neighborhoods, adjacent to Downtown and the
Nile Corniche, by synchronizing their
interests and highlighting and developing Bulaq’s
industrial, commercial, historical, and cultural potentials.
The project addresses socio-economic reconciliation through
the preservation of Bulaq’s industrial heritage and the
adaptive reuse of existing structures, alongside the creation
of a breathing lung for the neighborhood through integrated
recreational parks and green spaces.
