Climate Variability of Geometry-to-Performance Sensitivity

Performance Sensitivity

This project studies the role of geometric detail in environmental performance and how its influence varies across metrics and climates. It examines how simplified massing models compare to more detailed 3D geometries, and how the importance of geometric expressivity changes depending on what is being measured, such as wind, solar exposure, or ventilation-related indicators, and under which climatic conditions. The work highlights that the relevance of integrating higher-order geometric features is not uniform: it depends on the performance metric and the environmental context. By situating geometry–performance relationships within climatic variability, the project supports more grounded decisions about when and why detailed geometric modeling matters in performance-informed design.
